Kate was first elected as the Labour MP to represent Blackburn in May 2015 and was re-elected in June 2017. She has called Lancashire home for over 40 years and has a political career spanning 20 years.


Before entering parliament Kate was formerly the Leader of the Labour Group on Blackburn & Darwen Borough Council and leader of the Council from 2004-2007 and 2010 until 2015 when she became an MP. Kate has played an important political leadership role at both a regional & national level and is honoured to be able to represent Blackburn residents in parliament.

 

Kate has two daughters Donna and Katrina and two grand-daughters and she lives locally with her partner John. For many years she was the work study manager at a local shoe factory before becoming Contracts Manager at the local college.
