This website was created whilst I was the elected MP for Blackburn.

 

As of 1 minute past midnight on Wednesday the 3rd of May, Parliament will officially be dissolved and I will cease to be an MP. I am standing again, but from that time I will not be an MP - I will be a candidate in the upcoming election.

 

This website will continue to function during the election campaign in Blackburn, however it will not be updated.

Yesterday I was drawn in the ballot to ask the Foreign Secretary a question. Unfortunately, due to my position in the ballot, the constraints on parliamentary time and the somewhat bombastic nature of Boris Johnson, I was unable to ask a question to Mr Johnson and his team.

I was incredibly proud that so many MPs spoke in opposition to the state visit by President Trump. I’m even more proud of the community that I represent in Blackburn. We are fortunate to live in a diverse community and I am fortunate to represent that community. As a representative of the people of Blackburn, I have a duty to make my views known to constituents on this issue. While 2,837 constituents of mine, 2.69% of the constituency have signed the petition, it is clear that the Muslim ban is an attack on all diverse communities and all who are resident in them.
