I’m pleased to support this recent motion to Blackburn with Darwen Council opposing hate crime.
Efforts to eradicate hate crime Blackburn as well as across the country should be commended and encouraged.
Since the EU referendum it’s been saddening to see a stark rise hate crimes happening, I’m happy to see Blackburn with Darwen councillors condemn these actions, and I understand this motion received support from all sides of the council.
It seems that daily we hear of an attack happening somewhere in the world and the tragic loss of my friend and colleague Jo Cox MP was only a few weeks ago, we must not allow ourselves to give into hate.
I hope community leaders, local politicians and others across Blackburn associate themselves with the sentiment of this motion.
Every member of Blackburn’s community is valued and their contribution is appreciated.
