The situation at Blackburn Rovers Football Club is a great concern to all fans of the club and the people of Blackburn generally.
The start of the season has seen 3 straight losses and the early indicators show that it’s going to be a long season for the club with a possible relegation battle ahead.
I have been inundated with emails from concerned fans about the way the club is being run at present. The club ownership don’t appear to be investing in the club to an adequate level and we’re yet to hear plans on how the club’s fortunes will be turned around in the short or long term.
It seems like every year the club announces more losses, with the debt bill now totals over £100 million.
Over the next few days I will be writing to Blackburn Rovers' directors to raise my concerns directly and reaching out to supporter groups and invite them to meet with me to discuss the ongoing situation at the club.
Blackburn Rovers is a great asset to our town, providing entertainment to thousands of fans each week, is large employer in the town and big match days bring customers to local businesses. A successful Blackburn Rovers is in our town's interest.
We all want to see Blackburn Rovers, a club with such a rich history and such a large supporter base back in the Premier League where they belong, sadly, the Premier League seems far away at present.
